10 Day Experience Rwanda Itinerary 

Day 1 Kigali and Transfer to Akagera National Park

• Arrival at Kigali
• Transfer from airport to the hotel for refreshments - 15min drive away from the Airport.
• Afternoon drive 2hrs15min drive to Akagera National Park.
• Check in at Akagera Game Lodge and overnight.

Day 2 Akagera National Park

• Early Morning breakfast at Akagera Game Lodge.
• Game drive start early morning at 06:00hrs in search for some of the big five such as Elephants, Buffaloes, Leopards, Lions plus many others species of antelopes for example Topis etc. and the Lions.
• Packed lunch box or return for lunch at Akagera Game Lodge.
• Evening game drive and boat trip at Lake Iheme to see schools of hippos, giant nile crocodiles, elephants in nearby swamps, birds etc..
• Overnight at Akagera Game Lodge.

Day 3 Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

• Morning breakfast at Akagera Game Lodge.
• Drive to Volcanoes National Park via Kigali. Brief lunch at the Hotel in Kigali. En-route, you will see the fascinating beauty of Rwanda and why it is called “a country of thousand and million smiles”.
• Driving time from Akagera to Volcanoes is 4 hours and a half.
• Check in and overnight at La Palme.
  
   

Day 4 Gorilla Tracking

• Early morning breakfast.
• 20 minutes drive to the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters.
• Briefing and then Gorilla Tracking which takes on average about a 6hrs duration.
• Overnight at La Palme.  

Day 5 Climb of Mt. Bisoke

• Breakfast and then 25minutes drive to Mount Bisoke starting point.
• Climb Mount Bisoke for about 6hrs duration. On top there’s a Crater Lake and beautiful flora and fauna. You may get chance to see forest elephants and buffaloes as you climb or descent from the mountain.
• Overnight at La Palme.

Day 6 Drive to Lake Kivu

• After Breakfast, Drive to Lake Kivu which is the second deepest lake in Africa after Tanganyika. The drive is only one hour between the town of Musanze and Gisenyi. On arrival, check in at Parades Marahide.
• Enjoy water sports on Lake Kivu or go for coffee and tea tours, bike tours, historical-cultural sites, community based tours, project tours…
• Take a boat Trip to the Islands of Lake Kivu - OPTIONAL.
• Overnight at Parades Marahide Hotel.

Day 7 Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park

•  Morning Breakfast and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park via Ngororero or the Congo-Nile trail. The amazing drive takes around 6 hours introducing you to local lifestyles, activities etc.
• Check in at Nyungwe Top View Hotel
• Visit Tea Plantations and communities around Gisakura.
• Overnight at Nyungwe Top View Hotel.

Day 8 Chimpanzee Tracking and Forest Walk

• Get packed breakfast then drive for one hour to the edge of the forest where trekking starts.
• Briefing and then Chimpanzee tracking.
• Forest walk in search for the chimps and other primates.

Day 9: Visit of Butare and Nyanza

• Morning breakfast and drive about 3hrs to Butare. Visit the National Museum and markets around.
• Visit King’s palace, art Gallery and the royal tombs.
• Overnight at a Nyanza Heritage Hotel.

Day 10 Return to Kigali

• Return to Kigali within a 2hrs drive.
