COLOMBIA - COLONIAL HERITAGE

Day 1  Bogotá 
Welcome to Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia and one of the biggest in Latin America. Welcome by our local english speaking guide and transfer to your hotel.  

Day 2  Bogotá   
Visit the folkloric market place of Paloquemao. In the      afternoon half day city tour to explore the historical center of La  Candelaria with its colonial houses, the Plaza Bolivar, the Cathedral, the Capitol and other historic buildings. Visit to the famous Gold Museum. The museum displays a selection of Pre Hispanic gold work — the biggest collection in the world. 

Day 3  Bogotá - Villa de Leyva 
Transfer to Villa de Leyva, a colonial town with cobblestone streets and many buildings date from the sixteenth century. On the way visit of the famous Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá, an underground church built within the tunnels of a salt mine. Stop at the bridge of Boyacá, a National monument and memorial of independence.  

Day 4  Villa de Leyva 
Excursion through a desert-like landscape to the monastery of Ecce Homo to visit the skeleton of a Kronosaurus.       Continue to “El Infiernito”, the astronomical center of the cultural Muisca. Remaining day at leisure.  

Day 5  Villa de Leyva - Barichara 
Drive through the Andean mountains to the colonial village of Barichara. Enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the cobbled alleys. 

Day 6  Barichara - Guane - Barichara 
Walking tour from Barichara to Guane along the "Camino Real", an 8 km long path through the hilly landscape. In Guane visit of the small paleontological museum. Return to Barichara and visit of a cigar factory and various craft shops. 

Day 7  Barichara - Giron 
Drive to the famous Chiacamocha Canyon, a steep sided canyon carved by the Chicamocha River. Overnight in Giron.  

Day 8  Giron - Cartagena 
Transfer to the airport of Bucaramanga. Flight to Cartagena, a fairy-tale city on the Carribean coast.  

Day 9  Cartagena 
Half day city tour including the Convent of La Popa and a photo-stop at the Fort San Felipe. Walk through the colourful streets of Cartagena and visit of the convent of San Pedro Claver. Remaining day at leisure.  

Day 10  Cartagena 
Transfer to the airport for return flight.
