COLOMBIA & ECUADOR - CULTURE AND NATURE

Day 1 Medellín
Arrival in Medellín and transfer to the hotel. 

Day 2 Medellín
Full day sightseeing tour to visit the tree most important sights in the histoy of drug baron Pablo Escobar. Visit the Botero Place with famous artworks, Take a lift with the  cable car to the Spanish library and have a chat over the social transformation of the city. Finally walk through one of the communities. 

Day 3 Medellín - Cartagena
Flight to Cartagena and hotel transfer. Remaining day at leisure. 

Day 4 Cartagena
Explore the colorful and crooked streets of the historical Cartagena with electric bicycle. Visit the convent La Popa and the fortress San Felipe. Stroll along the old paths and continue to monastery San Pedro Claver for a visit. 

Day 5  Cartagena
Transfer to the fishing village “La Boquilla”. On roofed   canoes guests will be transported through mangrove swamps back to Cartagena. On the way many birds and can be observed.  

Day 6  Cartagena - Bogotá
Flight to Bogotá. After arrival guests will be brought to the  salt cathedral of Zipaquirá. The deepest point of the cathedral lies 80 meter underground and has a 16 meter high illuminated cross of salt. Transfer to the hotel. 

Day 7 Bogotá - Quito
City tour of Bogotá including the famous Paloquemao    market, a flower market, the market hall, the colonial    historical quarter of La Candelaria and the well-known Gold museum. Flight to Quito and Welcome dinner with a      spectacular view over Quito.  

Day 8 Quito - Sacha Lodge
Flight to Coca. Welcome by a guide of the lodge and transfer on motorized canoes across the river Napo to the Sacha lodge. On the way guests enjoy a lunch box. In the afternoon walking tour with two guides through the jungle to visit one of the biggest butterfly farms of Ecuador.  

Day 9 Sacha Lodge
The day starts at sunrise. Survey of the rain forest from treetops. This unique place gives our guests spectacular views of the rainforest and the many different species of birds. After sunset night walk with torches to listen the  impressive nightly background noises.  

Day 10 Sacha Lodge
Canoe tour on black water rivers up to a 40m high tower, from which one  guests can watch again the fascinating wildlife. In the afternoon possibility to take a bath in the tranquil  lagoon or fishing piranhas. After dinner excursion on dugout canoes on the lake to sort caimans and night birds and to look at the at the starry sky. 

Day 11 Sacha Lodge - Quito
Transfer to the airport in Coca and flight back to Quito. Cozy dinner at a restaurant in Quito.  

Day 12 Quito
Starting with a visit of a traditional sweets manufacturer who has been produced goodies like nuts, aniseed and many more in classical type for nearly 100 years. Afterwards, enjoy a 6h sightseeing-tour of the city of Quito to get a first impression of the variety there is regarding religious and cultural sights.The tour goes on to the Equatorial Line Monument called “Middle of the World”. Visit the monument and the Intiñan Museum, which  conducts several interactive scientific experiments. 

Day 13 Quito
Visit the home of the local artist Dolores Andrade. Her sculptures can be gazed at several parks and public  places. Guests will meet the artist personally or a family member. Transfer to the airport of Quito. End of the roundtrip and homebound flight.
