MYSTERIOUS MACHU PICCHU

Day 1  Lima Arrival in Lima and hotel transfer.  

Day 2 Lima Half day city tour through the colonial Lima and visit to the Rafael Larco Herrera archaeological museum which houses the world’s largest private collection of         Peruvian pre-Columbian Art. 

Day 3 Lima - Cusco Flight to Cusco. Half day city tour inclusive visit of the Plaza de Armas, which was once the exact centre of the Incan world, and the cathedral, built on the ruins of the ancient Inca Palace and borders on other churches on both sides. Proceed to Sacsayhuaman, a ruin located circa 3 km above Cusco. Sacsayhuaman also offers a fabulous view of the city. Afterwards visit the surrounding ruins. 

Day 4 Cusco Full day excursion to visit the famous Pisac market in the town of Pisac. Continue to the important ruin site of Ollantaytambo and visit the town, the shrines and the fortification with its stairs to the sky. Return to Cusco in the afternoon. 

Day 5 Cusco - Machu Picchu Transfer to Ollantaytambo and train ride with         Belmond Vistadome train and shuttle bus to Machu Picchu. Re-discovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham,  Machu Picchu is the only known Inca city to remain intact. Guided tour of the citadel’s agricultural        terraces, houses and temples. In the afternoon      transfer by shuttle bus to Aguas Calientes. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. 

Day 6 Machu Picchu - Cusco In the morning second visit to the incan site of Machu Picchu, early before most other tourists arrive.       Afterwards return by bus and train to Cusco. 

Day 7 Cusco Day at leisure for own activities. Different optional tours can be booked on the spot. 

Day 8 Cusco - Lima Flight back to Lima. Reception at the airport and transfer to Hotel Casa Andina Miraflores Centro. Remainder of the day at leisure to enjoy your last evening in Peru. 

Day 9 Lima Transfer to the airport and individual return flight or extension program.
