Day 01                                                                                                                         Salta

Arrival at Salta airport and transfer to the hotel (together with other travellers).

City Tour Salta (4 hours, together with other travellers)

Salta was founded in 1582 and has conserved his hispanic character which distinguishes it from other Argentine capitals. Its urban profile is characterized by colonial style houses and churches framed by the surrounding hills. You will visit the city’s churches as well as San Bernando Hill, from where one can enjoy a panoramic view of Salta. Afterwards you will continue to the village San Lorenzo at about 10 km from Salta city, before you’ll see the National University and the market as well Río Vaqueros, Quebrada de Castellanos and Lesser.

Day 02                                                                                         Salta – Cafayate – Salta

• Full day excursion to Cafayate (seat-in basis)

Full Day Cafayate (12 hours, together with other travellers)

In the early morning you will leave Salta and pass by Cerrillos, El Carrill, Coronel Moldes, Ampascachi, Talampaya and Alemania to reach the Quebrada del Rio Las Conchas, declared Natural Monument by the UNESCO due to the bizarre formations and colours of its hills. All figures are indicated by signs helping visitors finding them. The most spectacular ones are La Garganta del Diablo (141 km), El Anfiteatro (142 km), El Sapo (153 km), El Fraile (155 km), El Obelisco (165 km) and Los Castillos (168 km). Finally you’ll arrive in Cafayate: a quiet, clean, little town, with low rainfall, lying between two ranges of Andean foothills and surrounded by vineyards; you are going to test some wine, visit the art and crafts market.

In the afternoon return to Salta via the same route. This allows us to appreciate the differences of formations and colours visiting the Quebrada in the morning and in the afternoon.

Day 03                                                                                    Salta – Humahuaca – Salta

• Full day excursion to Humahuaca (seat-in basis)

Full Day Humahuaca (14 hours, together with other travelers)

You depart to the north to reach the Province of Jujuy where you will visit León, Tumbaya, Purmamarca with its Cerro de Siete Colores (Seven Colors Hill), Tilcara with its Pucará (old indigenous fortress situated in a magnificent frame of cactus and colourful mountain) (entrance fee not included) where you will do a little walk to visit the ruins. You will continue further north and stop at Uquia Church and Humahuaca where you can appreciate the nice handicraft market and the Belgrano monument. On our way back to Salta you’ll visit the city of Jujuy and its principal sights.

Day 04                                                                                                                         Salta
