We offer you the Northern Way from Avilés to Santiago de Compostela by bike. This is a wonderful way to discover the beauty of the Cantabrian coastal landscape and some of its most iconic towns and villages.

 

Day 1:
Arrival at Avilés (transfer from Oviedo airport/ station to Avilés)
ln Avilés, the most remarkable feature is its historic district, which splendidly preserves its traditional architecture. Regarding to temples, we have the church of the Franciscan Fathers, built in the late 12th Century and the beginning of the 13th Century. Accommodation in Avilés.
 

Day 2:
Stage l: Avilés - Luarca (79 km)
Breakfast in Avilés. Once you have left Avilés heading to Luarca, you will find other interesting points on the Way. We have Muros de Nalón, Soto de Leuifia and Cadavedo. All these towns have a singular charm and many places to visit such as the church of Santa Maria (Soto de Luiha), the Beach of Aguilar (Muros de Nalón) and the Beach of Cadavedo. ln Luarca, you will be able to enjoy its beaches and the sea views , as well as to visit the Lighthouse, the chapel of Atalaya, Guatemala House or the Palace of the Marguises of Ferrera. Day 3:
Stage 2: Luarca - Ribadeo (64 km)
Breakfast in Luarca. Leaving Luarca and passing by La Caridad, this stage will take you to Ribadeo. Amongst the different places you can visit, you have the Spain Sguare, the City Hall, the Tower of the Moreno, the convent of Santa Clara and the Chapel of Atalaya. Also, you will have the opportunity to enjoy exceptional views to the Ribadeo Estuary. Accommodation in Ribadeo.
 

Day 4:
Stage 3: Ribadeo - Villalba (75 km)
Breakfast in Ribadeo. From Ribadeo to Villalba, you will pass by two really interesting villages: Lourenzá and Abadín. The first one has the Monastery of San Salvador and a Sacred Art Museum; the second one has the Church of Santa Maria de Abadín. from Roman style. Once in Villalba, we recommend to visit its most iconic monument, the Tower of the Andrade. lt also has the Prehistoric and Archaeological Museum and the church of Santa Maria. Day 5:
Stage 4: Villalba - Sobrado dos Monxes (61 km)
Breakfast in Villalba. On your way to Sobrado dos Monxes, you will ünd a small village called Vaamonde, where you can visit the Church of Santiago and the Museum House of Víctor Corral (an sculptor born in Baamonde). ln Sobrado, we recommend you to visit the Monastery of Sobrado (from the 1oth Century). Accommodation in Sobrado dos Monxes.
 

Day 6:
Stage 5: Sobrado dos Monxes - Santiago de Compostela (65 km) Breakfast in Sobrado dos Monxes. Ready for the last stage, you will leave Palas de Rei heading to Santiago de Compostela. On the way, both Arzúa and 0 Pedrouzo. the most important town before arriving at Santiago, offer some places to visit. ln Arzúa, the ancient "Convento de la Magdalena" and the "lglesia Parroouial de Santiago"; in 0 Pedrouzo, belonging to the "concello" of 0 Pino, you will find the "Ermitade San Irene". Once in Santiago de Compostela, you will have the opportunity to see an endless amount of landmarks. The main one is the Cathedral and the "Plaza del Obradoiro", but that does not mean those are the only remarkable places, as it is also recommendable to take a stroll around the historic district, to taste the gastronomy and to visit some other iconic buildings such as "Hostal de los Reyes Católicos", "Monasterio de San Martín Pinario" or "Pazo de Raxoi".
